A LITTLE MORE CLARITY / 03

See the whole cost.
Ask with confidence.

One rate or fee does not tell the whole story. Look at charges, timing and conditions together.

  1. One-off charges

Ask about opening or processing charges, assessment, collateral and insurance. Confirm taxes and when each charge is payable.

  2. Recurring and usage charges

Separate monthly charges from withdrawal, transfer and statement fees. Check whether prices vary with the amount or channel used.

  3. Loan interest

Interest on the outstanding balance differs from interest charged on the original principal throughout the term. Equal percentages need not mean equal costs. Request a repayment schedule and total payable.

  4. Conditions that change the cost

Ask about late payment, early repayment, inactivity and how tariff changes are communicated. Keep the dated information you receive.

YOUR NUMBERS, A CLEARER PICTURE

Compare the charges for two options.

Get confirmed tariffs first. Compare the same transaction type in options A and B; run a separate comparison for other transaction types. The initial zeros are not IBAKWE prices.

Option A
Option B

Total = one-off charge + months × (monthly charge + transactions × charge per transaction). This assumes a fixed charge per transaction; interest, currency conversion, tiered pricing and unentered charges are excluded.
