Collateral

An asset that may secure a loan. Ask about valuation, costs, obligations and the consequences of non-payment.

Guarantor

A person accepting contractual obligations relating to another person’s debt. Read and understand those obligations before agreeing.

Cashflow

Cash received and paid in a period. It differs from profit because credit sales may not produce cash immediately.

Tariff

A schedule of service charges and conditions. Check its effective date and how each charge is calculated.

Exchange rate

The rate for converting one currency into another. Ask for the rate that will actually apply and how long it is valid.

One-time password (OTP)

A code used to authorise access or an action. Do not disclose it to someone who calls or requests it in a message.

Total payable

The full amount payable under the stated agreement. Request a breakdown of principal, interest and other charges.
