Money guides

A household with a plan.
Goals become clearer.

Record monthly needs, lean periods and the goal you want to reach so you can see what can be set aside.

Prepare step by step

  1. Name the goal and the date

Write what you will buy or pay for, the latest cost you know and when the money is needed. If the price could change, decide when to check it again.

  2. Match the plan to your income

Subtract money already set aside for this goal. Count the income dates before your deadline. With seasonal income, allow for quieter periods and bills that still need paying.

  3. Review the plan regularly

If you miss a planned contribution, reconsider the cost, date or amount you can set aside. Keep everyday essentials in your plan.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Example: equipment costing 120,000 RWF

Goal: 120,000 RWF. Already set aside: 30,000 RWF. Gap: 90,000 RWF. Over 6 months, 90,000 ÷ 6 = 15,000 RWF per month.

These are example figures, excluding interest and service charges. If 15,000 RWF does not fit after essential spending, try a longer timeline or a lower-cost goal.
