Prepare step by step
Lock the device and information
Use a screen lock on your phone or computer. Do not leave notes showing a PIN, password or code where others can see them.
Check apps and channels
Remove apps you do not recognise, check the web address and start from a channel you saved yourself instead of a message link.
Share the minimum
Share only what is needed. A SACCO or trusted provider should not need your OTP, PIN or password to help you.
A 30-second check
Who sent it? Did I verify them through a channel I found myself? Are they asking for a secret? Was I expecting this action? If one answer is no, pause and check.
If you shared information or sent money by mistake, contact the relevant provider promptly through a verified channel. Do not share another code.
