Money guides

Start with a goal.
Learn to follow the money.

For a school goal, equipment or a small project, record money coming in and going out. A simple plan helps you know what to ask before seeking a service.

Prepare step by step

  1. Put dates beside the money

List when seed, fertiliser, labour and fodder must be paid, then add when you expect harvest income or customer payments.

  2. Plan for the lean month

Protect essential spending. If harvest is late or the sale price falls, write down what you could reduce or postpone.

  3. Keep the plan explainable

Keep the source of the prices you used, what you have already invested and what you expect. This helps you ask clearer questions at the SACCO.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

An example seasonal calendar

January: prepare seed. February: plant. April: allow for school costs. May: expect harvest and market income. Change the dates to fit your own plan.

This plan does not forecast a crop price or approve a loan. It is a worksheet for questions, timing and choices.

My checklist

KEEP PREPARING

Put your preparation to use.

This is preparation guidance. Confirm available services, requirements, charges and timing with the SACCO before deciding.
